Paper and Fabric Collage

Memories of my sweet Mom

I created this whimsical collage with fond memories of my sweet Mom.  She used to drive a little white Corvair with red interior in the 60's.  The "tires" represent her favorite flower, the daisy.  Some of her friends called her Magnolia Blossom, as she was originally from the South.  Don't you just love her shades!  This photo of her makes me smile.  An Art Teacher and an amazing Mom, she was full of life, energy, love, and a little moxie!  She was a big inspiration to me creatively and in life.

I purchased a necklace with this mini license plate several years ago.  The charm ended up being a perfect fit for the collage.  Mom was born in Virginia and the photo I selected of her, with the fabulous sunglasses, was taken in late 1958 or 1959.  Serendipity!

Creating this collage reminded me of so many happy memories with her.  I miss her dearly, but know she is dancing and painting again, in a better place.

My next post will feature an assemblage I created in honor of her.
